Ships’ Telegraphs Incoming

We’ve picked up a nice pair of 1950s British army Centurion tank periscopic binoculars and a pair of British World War II Vickers tank binoculars recently, but this weekend’s finds top those by a distance.

We’ve just reserved a pair of stunning, historic telegraphs. Both in brass and double-sided, one’s a Robinson, the other a Chadburn. Hard to date decisively, but 1940s-50s looks the best bet.

There are still a few aluminium ships’ telegraphs floating about, but brass telegraphs are already extremely rare and we’re told will have disappeared from circulation within a year. The Chadburn, in particular, is the cream of the crop.

We’re having our two beauties polished and they should be with us in November. Can’t wait!
