Metals are having a moment in the world of interior design, with copper and brass leading the way.
Moving on from the raw industrial look that’s been popular over the past few years, copper and brass are being used to add a more opulent, glamorous feel to lighting, mirrors and decorative accessories. As design forecast agency, Scarlet Opus’ trend forecaster Victoria Renshaw, noted: “There has been a move towards metals with a warmer aesthetic that have a pleasing patina. Brass is glamorous without being ostentatious and that is what feels more palatable for customers right now.”
Lucy Denham in the Daily Telegraph recently pointed out that, “Last year was all about copper; everything from KitchenAid mixers to free-standing baths was made over. The year culminated with Dulux announcing that its paint colour of the year for 2015 is Copper Blush.”
You want copper and/or brass? Look no further! We recently commissioned a small range of new copper and brass maritime lighting – large brass passageway light with copper shade, and a four-bar round bulkhead in both copper and copper & brass – available only from Any Old Lights. We also stock small passageway lights in either copper or brass, and a range of original and rare vintage ship’s cargo lights in both metals.
