Any Old Lights goes on tour! This is the time of year where we like to get out and about and meet our customers. First up is the Truro Interiors Market – next Friday 8th and Saturday 9th September – then can catch us at Bedruthan Mid Century & Vintage Fair on Sat 7th and Sun 8th October.
Whilst we love being in our shop in Fowey, we really enjoy taking our vintage lights out to meet customers at showa. We’ve exhibited our lights all over the UK, including London’s Alexandra Palace and Ardingly Vintage Fair in Sussex.
So we’re excited to be heading down to Truro next week. You’ll find a variety of fine furniture, ceramics, fabrics, cushions, throws and rugs, fire place accessories, art, lampshades, home technology & more – altogether in one place on Lemon Quay in Truro. Plus spending time with other traders – such as fellow Fowey artist Jo Downs Handmade Glass – for us is inspirational and helps us shape ideas for new designs.
Living in a small costal town, a day out to Cornwall’s capital city is invigorating. Named after the meeting of three rivers – ‘Tri-ri’ – Truro is also famous for its narrow alley ways, including the aptly named Squeeze Guts Alley
Not many people know about its place in rock history – Queen performed their first gig here as drummer Roger Taylor is a Truronian.
Olympic medallists Sir Ben Ainslie learned to sail on the River Fal and Helen Glover MBE was born here.
Truro has two other lesser known but notable residents : Joseph Emidy was a former African slave who after being set free in Falmouth became a celebrated violinist in Truro. And the noted architect Silvanus Trevail, created some of Cornwall’s best known buildings before tragically killing himself on train in Bodmin.
