Your Technical Questions Answered

All our vintage lighting is refurbished to the highest standards. Here are answers to the most common questions we are asked. If you have any other queries at all, please do get in touch.

What fittings are in my light?

All our lights have either refurbished or new CE-rated fittings.

Unless stated otherwise in the light’s description, our lights are fitted with standard E27 Edison screw lightbulb fittings.

Is my light dimmable?

Yes. Provided you use a dimmable bulb (the vintage-style filament bulbs we sell are) and a dimmer switch, our lights are dimmable.

Is wiring provided?

We provide 1m of three-core flex, 1m of chain and the necessary hooks with each pendant light. Our new vintage-style pendants and fresnel-lens pendants come pre-wired. Other vintage pendants, the flex is sent separately. We can wire or rewire any light to your specifications for a small extra fee (please ask) using vintage-style grey or brown three-core flex.

New bulkhead wall lights and new passageway lights are wired with a short length of three-core flex, to attach to the lighting circuit in your wall. Vintage bulkhead wall lights and passageway lights are not wired and will be attached directly to your existing lighting circuit.

Will my light work outside?

Certain of our new bulkhead lights and new passageway lights are rated IP44 – this will be clearly noted in the Item Description. Our original vintage lights are reclaimed and cannot be IP-rated. Customers do use them outdoors – you must consult your electrician for their advice on specific lights.

Will this light work in a bathroom?

Please see our notes on bathroom lighting safety.

All lighting should be fitted by a qualified electrician.
