Our vintage lighting shop is right in the heart of the coastal town of Fowey in Cornwall, and we are lucky to live in the midst of a vibrant community, with plenty going on. Take this weekend for example – three very different activities which can be enjoyed by all the family.
First up tomorrow, we’ve got the Fowey Pre School Teddy Bear Abseil… if your teddy is brave enough of course! This lively fundraiser sees your treasured cuddly toy taken to the top of St Fimbarrus Church in Fowey – the second tallest church spire in Cornwall after Truro – and abseil down. From 10am-12 midday outside the church, there’s also plenty of refreshments, including Quay Bakery muffins.
From there take a short amble up the hill the Squires Field Community Centre. From 1-5pm they be celebrating their first birthday, and they will be joined by St Dennis Youth Band, the Press Gang and the mighty Arrow Barrows. Crazy, daring, exhilarating… follow the pilots as they battle the infamous Red Barrow – the German Flying Ace who always tries to foil the Arrow Barrows wondrous display. There’s also messy play for little uns. Squires Field Community Centre is available to hire for parties and events, and is handily placed in Fowey, next to the park.
Then on Sunday – It’s a Bugs Life! Join Fowey’s new forest school venture, Buccaneers Outdoor Learning, who will be running one of their popular family sessions at Treesmill, Tywardreath from 2-4pm. Great fun for all the family from a qualified forest school instructor. Watch out for their holiday club sessions throughout the summer.
Whether you’re local or visiting our town keep your eyes peeled for loads going on this summer – the highlight of which is of course the famous Fowey Regatta, from 13-19 August – and the return of the Red Arrows!
