Fowey Christmas Market Weekend 6-8 December

Fowey Christmas Market is almost up on us! One of Cornwall’s most well-loved Christmas events, over 200 traders are carefully chosen so you can look forward to finding a unique collection of handmade locally produced gifts, arts and craft as well as some of the region’s finest locally produced food and drink.

On Friday 6th December, the Town Quay, Webb St and Albert Quay venues open at 5.30pm with a performance from the children of Fowey Primary School, so why not take the chance to browse some of the fantastic stalls before Santa’s arrival? Many shops – including Any Old Lights – will stay open late in Fowey, with festive treats on offer. Our vintage ships’ clocks make gorgeous, unexpected Christmas gifts.

Santa arrives not by sleigh but in one of Fowey’s tug boats around 6.30pm and will lead a Parade of Christmas Lights through the town. Anyone can join in – bring willow lanterns, garden lanterns, twinkly fairy lights, flashing headbands, torches, light-up novelty jumpers or any other sort of light (NO naked flames please) to light up the Parade, which will be led by Santa and Fowey’s Town Crier.

Upon arrival outside the church there will be a sing-a-long of traditional Christmas carols, followed by the Christmas lights switch-on at 7pm and a fireworks display. You can enjoy mulled wine from Fowey Hall Hotel and tasty treats for the children courtesy of The Quay Bakery

Don’t forget the children’s Christmas party in the Town Hall until 8.30pm; you’ll also be entertained from 7.15pm by chanteuse Scarlette Von B who will be performing in the entertainer’s gazebo on the Town Quay.

There will be more amazing live music over the weekend. On Saturday morning 11-12 you can hear from the Fowey River Singers, and in the afternoon 1-3pm we’re thrilled to see Cornwall’s answer to Frank Sinatra, the lovely Andy Marshall return. Last time he came he had the audience up and twirling around, so we’ve got our dance shoes at the ready! We’ll also have some vintage Christmas songs from Betty Bluebird from 3.15pm.

On Sunday morning at 10.30 there’s live jazz from Jumping Out, more from Betty Bluebird at 11.30am, and from 12.30-2.30pm we’ll be welcoming Laura & the Jazz Capsule. From 2.30-3pm it’s Untrained Melody, a new a capella group from Lostwithiel.

So much to see and do in Fowey at our Christmas Market Weekend, we hope to see you there. Drop into our shop and say hello!
